Literary Analysis + Exchange Students

I thought I had done well on my literary analysis. Until the day we received our grades, I had not done so well. I had received a C on the assignment. I wondered what could've happened. Although, I was never good at writing papers. I hope I can get a chance to rewrite this assignment!

The Chinese Exchange students have really enjoyed their time at Episcopal. I really enjoyed Caesar's speech that he delivered to the upper school at announcements. I hope they will come back one day, because they were really fun to be around! The French exchange students will be coming soon and I can not wait for them to be on campus.

  2. Nick, try to write with more depth here. What do you think went wrong on your literary analysis? Part of the purpose here is to develop a good sense of what makes a paper in a genre weak or strong and how the rubrics we talk about translate into grades. What will you do to change that in your revision? What did you like most about Caesar's speech?

Also, watch the word "until" here. Your sentence with "until" here suggests that you had not done well up until the time we received grades (but that maybe you did better after that), rather than that you though you had done well up until the day you received grades, when that changed. Also, "although" is a subordinating conjunction - you create a fragment when you use it in a single-clause sentence. You could say instead: "Although I was never good at writing papers, I wonder what could have happened with this one."
